On October 24, 2016, New Japan Wireless released a speaker amplifier IC NJU72065 with volume adjustment function, announced that it has entered mass production and is officially on the market. This product can not only optimize the system design, but also simplify the speaker drive circuit and reduce costs.
Recently, in addition to the speaker amplifier, more and more devices equipped with audio output function, the more demand is to use simple volume adjustment function at the same time. The speaker amplifier NJU72065 with volume adjustment function we developed not only can receive analog audio signals, but also can flexibly respond to the PWM signal output from the MCU, which can reduce the system scale and simplify the system design. In addition, NJU72065 uses a small package, and only needs a few external components to form an audio output circuit, which can effectively reduce the PCB area and save costs.
Product features and advantages: 1. Optimize system designTraditionally, multiple discrete devices have been used to form circuit connections for sound amplification and volume adjustment functions (see Figure 1). The NJU72065 we developed has a 1.2W output capability speaker amplifier and volume adjustment circuit. Now, only one NJU72065 is needed to meet the requirements of the speaker amplifier for volume adjustment (see Figure 2).
In addition, an operational amplifier is built into the input of the NJU72065, which can flexibly correspond to the input analog audio signal and the PWM signal output by the MCU.

If you use NJU72065 to form a sound synthesis LSI, you can completely reduce the cost of the audio output module. However, the MCU needs to output sound signals.
2. Simplify circuit designIn the past, the sound output circuit was mainly composed of multiple components such as a filter circuit, a tuning circuit, and a speaker amplifier, and the design was also very complicated. NJU72065 integrates all these functions together, eliminating the need for individual deployment and simplifying the overall system design. In addition, tuning and standby mode conversion can be controlled through the I2C bus, making the operation simpler and more convenient.
3. Reduce the installed areaThe NJU72065 uses a 4.0mm X 2.9mm MSOP10 small package, which can reduce the PCB mounting area, save costs, and also allow the overall size of the product to be miniaturized.
