Siemens receives first order for wind power in the Netherlands

It is reported that the Gemini consortium recently signed a contract for the construction, operation and financing of a total value of nearly 3 billion euros, involving 20 companies, accounting for 70% of the total value of the project, making Gemini the largest project investor in offshore wind farms.

Among them, Siemens will deliver 150 wind turbines for the Gemini project, with a single power of 4 MW. Each wind turbine has a rotor diameter of 130 meters.

The Gemini project wind farm is located in the North Sea of ​​Europe, approximately 85 kilometers from Groningen, the Netherlands. After installation, the total generating capacity reaches 600MW, and the annual power generation is 2.6TWh, which can provide clean power to 500,000 people, equivalent to a reduction of 1.25 million tons of CO2 emissions per year.

This is also the first time that Siemens has received orders for offshore wind power in the Netherlands. The 15-year service and maintenance agreement signed with the Gemini project was also the largest order received by Siemens Energy Services. The project will use a helicopter and a specially designed service vessel for the first time around the clock. Wind power and energy services are the scope of Siemens environmental products. About 43% of its total revenue comes from green products and solutions, making Siemens one of the world's leading providers of environmental technologies.
