Recently, VRYCUL from the UK pioneered the application of liquid metal technology to the field of heat dissipation, and developed liquid metal heat sinks and thermal pastes with ultra-high thermal conductivity. The so-called liquid metal is a metal or metal alloy that can be melted into a liquid at a temperature slightly above room temperature.
As a liquid metal heat transfer product used in high-precision electronic products, it must maintain good thermal conductivity and stability under severe environments such as high temperature, high corrosion and high humidity. This time, we will conduct rigorous testing on Weiku products to demonstrate the advantages of Weikuo liquid metal thermal products.

Product Overview: VRYCUL has launched four products, TG-I and TG-II liquid metal thermal paste and TP-I and TP-II liquid metal thermal sheet. TP series liquid metal thermal conductive sheet and TG series liquid metal thermal conductive paste have much higher thermal conductivity than traditional eucalyptus-based rouge, and do not contain volatile substances. They have high reliability and good thixotropic properties, which can ensure long-term safe and stable operation of precision heat dissipation system. Due to the similar performance of the same series of products, this paper only conducts high temperature test, corrosion test, thermal shock test and phase change expansion test for TP-I and TG-I.

Introduction to the test platform
The experimental platform is shown in Figure 1. It consists of a heat source, upper and lower copper blocks, a thermal conductive sheet, an aluminum heat sink and a fan. The heat source power is 200W. Two copper blocks are placed above the heat source, and heat-insulating materials are placed around the surface. Vrycul heat-conducting products are placed between the two copper blocks. Place an aluminum radiator and fan above the copper block. There are three equidistant temperature measuring holes T1, T2, T3, T4, T5 and T6 on the two copper blocks, wherein T2 = 1/2 (T1 + T3) and T5 = 1/2 (T4 + T6). The changes of contact thermal resistance were measured at 20h, 40h, 60h, 80h and 100h respectively.

High-temperature experimental test: If the thermal paste is guaranteed to have a life of 5 years at 60 ° C, according to the Arrhenius formula, under the accelerated experimental conditions, it must be tested at 150 ° C for 100 hours. The test results are shown in Fig. 2. As can be seen from the figure, after 150 hours of high temperature test at 150 °C, VRYCUL TG-I thermal paste and TP-I thermal pad showed stable performance and no attenuation.

Corrosion test
The corrosion test was carried out by etching copper and copper nickel as corrosion materials at 150 ° C for 100 hours. The experimental results are shown in Figures 3 and 4. It can be seen from the picture that the structural materials contacting the TP-I thermal conductive sheet and the TG-I thermal conductive paste have no obvious signs of corrosion.

Thermal Shock Test: The TG-I thermal paste and the TP-I thermal pad were cycled between -40 ° C and 125 ° C for 200 hours. The experimental results are shown in Figure 4. The experimental results show that the performance of VRYCUL TG-I thermal paste and TP-I thermal pad is stable, no attenuation, and excellent temperature shock resistance.

Phase change expansion test: In general, the M3 screw pitch is 0.5 mm. The thickness of TP-I is 50 μm, the thickness of TG-I is 100 μm, and their cure expansion ratio is 3%. Therefore, the expansion of TP-I is 50*3%=1.5 μm, TG-I The amount of expansion is 3 micrometers, which is converted into 1.5/500×360=1 degrees (TP-I) and 2 degrees (TG-I), respectively. For almost all radiator screw fitting methods, after the standard torque is reached, continue to tighten 1-2 degrees, the screw generally does not have any pressure on the device.
In practical applications, if the heat dissipating system is assembled and the screw reaches the standard torque, it can be rotated back and forth 1-2 degrees to the left and right. The device is not damaged, indicating that the liquid metal thermal pad does not have any risk of device damage due to phase change. In addition, the thermal shock test shows that the ordinary screw fastening will not cause the contact failure after the multiple transformation of the thermal conductive material, and the heat dissipation deteriorates.
Conclusion: The test shows that the liquid metal thermal conductive sheet and thermal paste of Weiku are stable under various extreme conditions. VRYCUL Company has indicated that it will continue to explore R&D on the basis of the original to meet the needs of more high-end cooling users.
