The second trend is the increasing concentration of LED chip manufacturing industry. LED industry technology, scale advantage is very important, product prices will continue to decline, penetration rate continues to increase, the cost of direct materials has been very limited, mainly relying on technological advances and scale advantages to drive down costs, thereby offsetting the decline in product prices and stable gross margin.

At this stage, the important manifestation of the technology that can be clearly seen is in the application fields of new applications, such as MiniLED and MicroLED. In the view of Ke Zhijie, executive director of the Institute of Future Display of the Future of Optoelectronics, "MicroLED can be regarded as a combination of the semiconductor industry and the display industry. There are different technical requirements for process precision and process integration. Even MiniLED has been It belongs to the category of integrated packaging. Therefore, from the technical point of view, MicroLED must be an industrial upgrade; in addition, the display market has a scale of nearly one trillion US dollars, and will become larger and larger, and will reach the point of ubiquitous display in the future. Industrial upgrading will inevitably bring changes to the original industry order. To some extent, the development of Mini LED/Micro LED is also a reshuffle process in the LED chip industry. From the device side, both MiniLED and MicroLED belong to the LED category. The production equipment is roughly the same as the traditional LED production equipment, but the technology is a qualitative leap, and the requirements for stability and consistency are very high.

As far as MiniLED is concerned, the epitaxial chip manufacturer's machine changes are relatively small, mainly because of the demand of the test machine. The rest are basically the equipment required for flip chip, and only need to increase with the market demand. For MicroLED, the challenges are relatively high. From EPI uniformity, machine selection, to the lack of mature solutions, small chip testing, massive transfer, high-precision bonding, etc., there are many challenges, including laser stripping. I believe everyone has noticed that in the past two years, Jingyuan Optoelectronics has been actively deploying MiniLED and MicroLED, especially Mini LED, which has become one of the more promising industries in this year. It is understood that Epistar may start producing MiniLED for smart phone backlighting in the third quarter of 2018, and plans to start producing MinLED for LCD TV and game display backlight before the end of 2018, and will also produce Mini LED. Looking at Huacan Optoelectronics, as the second largest LED chip manufacturer in the domestic market, I have done research on MicroLED very early. Up to now, Huacan Optoelectronics has launched more mature chip products in the Mini-RGB chip for backlight application from Mini Blu-ray chip to display application, with a few hundred KK shipments.

In view of the new application of LED in display, Ganzhao Optoelectronics also performed more actively. It is reported that Ganzhao Optoelectronics has newly established the "Future Display Research Institute" and cooperated with downstream partners to develop new MiniLED and MicroLED products. In the future, it will increase production capacity as customer demand increases, which will become an important supplement in revenue.”

In general, through the layout of the above several LED chip manufacturers, with the gradual fermentation of the MiniLED and Micro LED markets, the chip end expansion will return to the normal track.
