Sharp announced on February 22, 2011 that it has developed an intelligent power conditioner that can use a rechargeable battery for electric vehicles (EV) as a residential battery.

The power conditioning cabinet utilizes the power control technology accumulated by Sharp in the development of power conditioning cabinets for solar power systems to enable solar cells, EVs, and system power to be linked. In the future, DC home appliances that are expected to be popularized in the home will be supported, so DC (DC) power supply is available.

In the empirical test, a rechargeable battery for driving a vehicle based on the Mitsubishi ETi-MiEV was successfully supplied with 8 kW of electricity to the house. In addition, an experiment for charging the EV was carried out using an intelligent power conditioning cabinet, which charged 4 kWh of power in about 30 minutes. In the future, Sharp will repeatedly conduct empirical experiments related to safety and reliability, and strive to be practical as soon as possible. (Reporter: Shouji Haozhi)
