Toshiba Introduces Industry's First Bridge Chip to Convert 4K HDMI® to MIPI® CSI-2

Toshiba Corporation today announced the launch of the "TC358840XBG" - the industry's first bridge chip that can convert 4K Ultra HD video streams from HDMI® to MIPI® CSI-2 losslessly and uncompressed. Samples will begin in April, and mass production is expected to begin in September 2014.

The new integrated circuit splits the 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) video stream into left and right images and outputs it from the dual channel MIPI® CSI-2 interface. The integrated circuit supports high-resolution 4K Ultra HD video conversion at 30fps to support high quality video processing.

In addition, this product supports the conversion of HDMI® audio input streams to I2S, TDM or MIPI SLIMbus® (serial low-power interconnect for media) for a wide range of applications.
