Beijing, China – May 24, 2018 – Maxim announced the availability of pin-compatible MAX20073 and MAX20074 buck converters to help automotive electronics designers significantly reduce EMI while increasing efficiency. The compact converter offers the industry's lowest EMI for low-voltage point-of-load power supply designs and is ideal for automotive infotainment systems and ADAS applications.

Automotive electronics designers are adding more and more features to modern high-end vehicles, using solutions that are efficient, compact, and even better than EMI specifications. As more and more cars function, the number of power rails increases. Each power supply is powered by a front-end buck converter powered by a car battery, often with stringent regulation requirements. In addition to all of the above challenges, designers need to meet the most stringent industry safety standards.

Compared to competing solutions, the MAX20073/MAX20074 offer higher efficiency, provide the industry's lowest EMI, and effectively reduce interference that affects subsystem functions. The solution size is very small and the quiescent current is extremely low. Combined with Maxim's unique spread-spectrum oscillator, SYNC IN function, forced PWM, skip mode and current mode, the system quality and performance are greatly improved, simplifying the overall design. In addition to additional advanced features, back-end point-of-load (POL) bucks such as the MAX20073/MAX20074 can meet the stringent voltage requirements of many power rails. The device's output voltage is very accurate and ideal for applications such as processors and memories where voltage accuracy is critical. The IC also meets stringent safety standards and operates over a wide temperature range at low voltage inputs, minimizing radio frequency interference (RFI) and providing high accuracy, efficiency and reliability.
