Driverless is gradually entering our lives

The Beijing Auto Show is still in full swing. Looking at various information from the past few days, you may also know that this year's Beijing Auto Show has a lot of new energy products, including traditional car companies and emerging Internet car companies. All kinds of electric car products make us dazzled.

In these electric vehicles, they all emphasized their own driverless function without exception. What kind of laser radar is it? It is a variety of levels of autopilot.... What we need to do is to see through the nature of drones and come up with new technologies for inventorying drones.

Driverless, currently in several levels?

Nowadays, there are more and more assisted driving devices for cars, but their ultimate goal is only one, that is, full degree of automatic driving. From the earliest cruise control to the ACC active cruising, to various lane keeping and collision warning systems, and finally to the autopilot function of cooperating with various devices, the progress and development of automotive electronics technology is far beyond our imagination.

First of all, to solve a problem, how is the classification of automatic driving? At present, the industry basically adopts the SAE classification method, which divides automatic driving from no automatic driving to full automatic driving into six levels. From Level 0 to Level 5, the level of automatic driving increases gradually.

Level0 has no automatic driving, but it can provide part of the alarm function;

Leve1 is defined as driving assistance;

Level 2 is defined as partially automatic driving, mainly by the driver monitoring the driving environment;

Level 3 is defined as conditional autopilot, where the driving environment is changed to an autonomous driving system;

Level 4 is defined as highly automated driving, where the driving environment is monitored by an automated driving system;

The Level 5 definition is fully autonomous driving.

The so-called autopilot or assisted driving that we are currently in contact with, for example, some active brakes or lane departure assists, can be counted as L1; if there is ACC active cruising, it can be regarded as L2; if there is a complete set of assistance Driving configuration can be counted as L3.

The reality is that at this stage, the driverless industry is generally at the L2-L3 level. For example, at the Beijing Auto Show we saw the Tesla Model3, Audi's new A8L (overseas version), Beiteng's new SUV and many more. Of course, there are also some independent brands that have come up with a concept car called the L5 level autopilot. Such as the Great Wall WEY-X concept car, but this concept car is still more display significance, is still far from the official mass production.

Technology is not a problem, the problem is...

The reason why we are so looking forward to driving without driver, in addition to driving more easily, in fact, there are other reasons, the first is safety. First of all, there are a variety of sensitive sensors, radars, cameras, etc. on the machine, which are wider than the human eye can perceive, and therefore can make decisions earlier than humans and can react faster. Second, machines are more energetic than humans. On a global scale, fatigue driving has become one of the important causes of traffic safety accidents. People will get tired and machines won't fatigue. In the end, machines are more rational than people. People will have emotions and will make dangerous acts because of panic, fury, but the machine will not make these mistakes, the machine is absolutely calm.

However, we noticed that it was in the propaganda speech of car manufacturers. Many rigorous manufacturers call these systems assistive driving functions. To a large extent, it is because the current definition of unmanned laws and regulations is not yet perfect.

Give a simple example. Driverlessness can solve many problems and can even reduce the death rate due to traffic accidents. For example, humans drive 100,000 people each year and become 50,000 people per year after being driven automatically. The surviving 100,000 people will not be thankful for autonomous driving, and the 50,000 people killed will be difficult to confess. It is much harder to overcome the ethical bottleneck than to overcome the technical bottleneck.

Laws and regulations are about to be perfected

In such a flourishing environment, the market has "reversed" regulations and regulations. For example, the driverless test vehicle number plates have been issued recently.

The first person to eat crabs was Shanghai. In March this year, the nation’s first batch of intelligent network-linked automobile open road test plates were issued in Shanghai. The relevant departments have designated 5.6 km of roads with high safety and low risk levels in Jiading District as the first phase of the intelligent network-linked automobile open test road. In the next step, the classification will gradually open up more road environments for intelligent networked car testing.

In April, Chongqing also opened up road tests for autonomous driving. At the same time, the Chongqing Automated Driving Test Management Joint Working Group also issued the first batch of test licenses that could be tested on the road to Changan, Baidu, FAW, Dongfeng, Guangzhou Automobile, Geely, Beiqi Futian and other automakers.

Guangdong also plans to issue guidance on road testing for autonomous vehicles by the first half of the year, complete the qualification review of the first batch of autonomous vehicle road tests, issue temporary vehicle number plates, and issue related supporting policy documents.

Small compilation

Seeing more and more car companies publishing a wide variety of driverless functions at the auto show, our hearts are still very embarrassing, especially among them there are many independent brands. The rapid changes in technology have changed the dominance of cars. Perhaps on a certain day, cars on the road are controlled by electronic systems.

For the foreseeable future, as the electronic systems of various radars, sensors, infrared cameras, laser scanners, etc. become more mature, the integration becomes more complete; and laws and regulations on unmanned driving are gradually introduced. By that time, drones may have to really come into our lives.
