(Original title: AI graduates up to 500,000 with annual salary of up to 500,000 have not been out of school and have been "looted")

In the past weekend, artificial intelligence coupled with zooming - Atlas from Boston Dynamics showed perfect backflip; Tencent launched the news writing robot Dreamwriter to write thousands of articles in 0.5 seconds. He wrote 14 manuscripts in one go and can also automatically map and edit videos.
The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) has pushed the salaries of industry professionals to an astonishing degree.
When many university graduates are still cheering for a salary of 100,000 yuan per year, the annual salary of the hottest AI graduates is as high as 300,000 to 500,000 yuan, and it is very likely that after three to five years, it will rise to 800,000 yuan. However, this price is mainly aimed at postgraduate qualifications.
This is what the First Financial Journalist recently learned about at the 19th China International Hi-tech Fair for Talent and Intellectual Exchange (hereinafter referred to as the “High-tech Talent Fairâ€). At the high-tech talent fair held in Shenzhen, the annual salary of more than 300,000 yuan per year can be found everywhere. However, the salaries of the AI positions still stand out and are very bright.
A high salary does not mean that job seekers flock to the site. There are very few AI talents who are on the job day. A number of on-site recruiters said that graduates do not need to spend a lot of money to find a job on the spot. Companies will find them through an instructor or a laboratory early. For those experienced R&D talents, headhunters will take the initiative to contact.
Annual salary cast a large part of their peers
Artificial intelligence is a strategic technology that leads the future.
At the National “two sessions†in March 2017, “artificial intelligence†was first officially included in the government work report. The report of the 19th Party Congress pointed out that it is necessary to promote the deep integration of artificial intelligence and the real economy.
On November 15, the Ministry of Science and Technology convened a new generation of artificial intelligence development planning and the launching of major scientific and technological projects. The conference announced the establishment of a new generation of artificial intelligence development planning promotion office, consisting of 15 departments including the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Finance. .
The fieryness of artificial intelligence can be seen in the talent high-tech fair. Many hiring companies in science and technology have set up AI positions, expanded AI talent pools, or hoped to find a leader to build an AI team.
The conference was held on November 16th and lasted for two days. It was intended to attract high-end talents. It selected 53 well-known companies and 10 well-known headhunters inside and outside China to recruit on the spot, including Huawei and BGI. Ping An Group, among which the national high-tech enterprises accounted for as high as 70%.
“This time we plan to recruit 40 AI R&D personnel, mainly from computer science graduates.†Liu Mingzhuo, vice president of Coolpad Group Co., Ltd., told CBC reporters, “We are given a salary of first class in China. The company's standard, for example, the annual salary of recent graduates is 300,000 to 500,000 yuan; in addition, we are a listed company and we will also use options to motivate talents."
The above graduates refer to masters and doctors. These freshly-baked graduates will be paid a very substantial salary after working a few years.
Take the Cool School as an example, most of their R&D staff are self-cultivated, and the training period is 3 to 5 years. After three to five years, the salary can get more than 800,000 yuan. “Very good people can get higher. We have an engineer who has worked in Silicon Valley and has several years of industry experience. Now the annual salary is more than 1.5 million yuan.†Liu Mingzhuo said.
Li Shangbiao, director of business development at Headhunting Consulting, also believes that this is a common level in the industry. He told CBN reporters that BAT and other Internet companies are one of the main players in recruiting AI talent, mainly focusing on algorithmic positions.
These Internet companies can compete with global competitors for cutting-edge AI talent. According to Goldman Sachs’ previous statistics, Baidu’s annual salary for machine learning AI talent is US$126,000. If you count the annual dividends and equity, you’ll get as much as US$220,000 (about 1.46 million yuan); and Amazon, Google, Compared with the top five international giants such as Microsoft, Apple and Facebook, it ranked third, second only to Facebook’s US$273,000 and Microsoft’s US$244,000.
Li Shanglu added that there are two types of companies that are recruiting AI talents: first, robotics companies with physical products, recruitment of natural language and other positions; second, companies that specialize in algorithms and provide software knowledge.
"Million" talent gap
Although the recruitment conference was full of people on the day, there were not many job seekers who came to apply for AI. Many tech company booths were crowded with job seekers from other positions.
Mr. Zhang in his 30s is quite rare among young job seekers. On the morning of the 16th, he strolled to the booth of a technology company and stopped and sat down with the recruiter to discuss the AI position. About ten minutes later, he left with frustration. He told reporters that he was a bachelor's degree and that the relevant work experience was not rich, and that the recruiter might not want to disqualify him.
Most of the companies interviewed by China Business News said that AI professionals are not a good move. They usually contact the relevant universities and mentors six months in advance to screen candidate candidates.
Many graduates with few porridges and AI graduates are naturally looking for a job without having to rush at the job fair. Those experienced AI R&D talents will also wait for the headhunter to take the initiative.
Different from the United States where the AI originated, there are fewer universities that offer artificial intelligence courses in China, and the teaching system has just begun. The quantity and quality of talent supply cannot keep up with demand.
In July this year, Wu Fei, deputy dean of the School of Computer Science at Zhejiang University and director of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence at Zhejiang University, said in an interview with the media that there are currently no artificial intelligence majors in domestic universities, mainly in the graduate student recruitment stage.
In July this year, the "Global AI Field Talent Report" was released. According to the report based on LinkedIn data, as of the first quarter of 2017, the number of technical talents in the global AI field exceeded 1.9 million, of which the total number of relevant personnel in the United States exceeded 850,000, and the total number of relevant personnel in China exceeded 50,000.
Tencent Research Institute researcher Yu Point told the First Financial reporter that up to now, there are tens of thousands of graduates in the AI field in China. However, this figure is far from meeting the market demand, because the talent gap in the market is a million.
Companies cannot grab AI talents at the scene, but the battle behind them has already begun, especially between cutting-edge companies and powerful companies.
A robot company in Shenzhen has set a price of 300,000 to 700,000 yuan per year for R&D personnel in the AI direction. The company’s senior recruiter Li Shaoming told the CBN reporter that this price code includes wages and year-end bonuses. For graduates and former graduates with a master's degree or above, fresh graduates can get at least 300,000 yuan, and 500,000 yuan for high graduates. Depends on individual ability.
Li Shangyu said that four years ago, companies began to contact them to seek AI talent, but in the last two years it was the blowout period for AI talent demand, and the difficulty of finding an AI post one person in three to five years would be eased.
“As the number of college-related majors and graduates increase, the number of low-end talent in the AI field will increase, but high-end talent remains difficult to recruit,†said Li Shangxi. “Although many industries are in short supply of high-end talent, the AI field is particularly clear. Because it involves logical thinking, etc., the threshold is very high."
Overall, Chinese AI talents cannot compare with the United States in terms of numbers or experience. The demand for low-level AI talent can be solved quickly, but high-end talent may still be hard to find.
