Bourns , the world's leading manufacturer of electronic components, recently announced the expansion of its highly rated Multifuse? Positive Temperature Coefficient Polymer (PPTC) resettable fuse . Bourns introduces a new line of MF-PSML (size 0805) that adds low-profile components to the company's existing MF-NSML (size 1206) and MF-USML (size 1210) product lines. Bourns is adding its MultifuseTM product line on a large scale, providing design engineers with a variety of low-impedance overcurrent and circuit overheat protection solutions to overcome space constraints and meet their application needs.
The small package size is characterized by a size range of 1210 to 0805. The expanded Multifuse® product line offers superior resettable fuse performance, better current retention (Ihold), up to 7.0Amps, and voltage (Vmax). Increased, the impedance value after the action is as low as 12mOhms, so the impedance stability is better. For example, ultra-low impedance helps to increase the current holding capacity of this product line. The package size (12-100ML) is now as high as 7Amps. In today's smaller lithium-ion battery devices, these features make the battery last longer and charge faster, making the new model an ideal resettable protection solution for many portable electronic applications.
All of these new Multifuse® products use Bourns' freeXpansionTM technology, which is a space-saving process that further reduces the size of surface mount packages and allows the MultifuseTM components to handle larger currents and voltages with better impedance stability.
"Ultra low impedance, small size and low profile make our latest Multifuse? product line the ideal protection for a new generation of space-constrained portable devices, including smartphones, tablets, wireless headsets, computer motherboards, USB hard drives and "The game console," said LeeBourns, product line manager at Bourns' Multifuse. "Because these components use Bourns' freeXpansionTM technology, they exhibit superior current, voltage and impedance performance over traditional PTC solutions and are ideal for designs that require higher order overcurrent and overtemperature protection."
Manufactured by the TS16949-certified Bourns plant, the latest Multifuse® PPTC resettable fuses are available for sale and are RoHS and UL certified.
