Lynk Labs, Inc., Acuity Brands, Inc. and Schneider Electric have reached a settlement agreement for all the requirements in the patent litigation filed by Lynk Labs in June 2015. The financial terms and other details of the settlement are kept confidential. Under the agreement, Acuity and its affiliates are licensed in part by a patent portfolio owned by Lynk Labs.
LED manufacturer Lynk Labs, Inc. today announced that it has reached a secret settlement with patent infringement and breach of lawsuits against Acuity Brands, Inc. and Schneider Electric.
Mike Miskin, Chairman and CEO of Lynk Labs, Inc., said: "This is a significant development and milestone for Lynk and its shareholders. This settlement demonstrates the value and contribution of Lynk and its intellectual property to the LED industry."
Lynk initially filed a lawsuit against Juno Lighting Group in June 2015 and later sued Schneider Electric for infringement of its patents and defaults.
After Acuity Brands acquired Juno Lighting Group, Lynk alone listed Acuity as a defendant in a patent infringement case. After nearly two years of lawsuits in the US District Court of Illinois, the parties have agreed to settle and sign a license agreement.
Mike Miskin said: "Lynk has invested millions of dollars in research and development, enabling LEDs to be easily designed for use in LED replacement lamps, such as T8 LED tubes, MR lamps, or lighting systems such as track and downlights, and through electronics. High-frequency AC power supplies such as ballasts, transformers and inverters provide LED illumination."
Lynk will continue to expand its patent portfolio and licensing program, which now includes more than 50 US and international patents that have been issued or are pending, from basic AC LED circuits to full LED lighting systems (AC and DC LED technology), display lighting, etc. .
